SA: Mine inquiry unable to determine fire cause

An investigation into a nine-hour blaze at the Olympic Dam copper/uranium mine in Adelaide
last December has been unable to determine the exact cause of the fire.

But investigators say the most probable cause is an electro-static discharge coming
in contact with kerosene from the copper production process at the WMC-operated mine.

They also isolated several factors which may have contributed to the fire which took
40 firefighters using 18,000 litres of foam to extinquish.
