NSW: 800 steel workers to walk off the job on Monday

Steelmaker BHP says its outsourcing of non-core maintenance work will cost jobs, but
it is too early to predict how many.

The warning, by BHP flat products president LANCE HOCKRIDGE, comes as more than 800
maintenance workers from Australia's biggest steelworks say they will walk off the job
next week.

They will protest against management plans to contract out their jobs.

The Australian Workers Union says BHP Port Kembla workers have received a two-page
