Microsoft to Shore up China Start-ups

BEIJING, May 25, 2011 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT), one of the most renowned software makers in the world, announced yesterday that it would continue shoring up start-up firms in China in the next few years.

Microsoft plans to take out software and development tools worth CNY 1.4 billion in the coming five years to smooth the expansion of more than 3,000 start-up firms in China, said Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer for the US-based company.

The project, according to Mr. Ballmer, will fuel the growth of multi-terminal application and cloud computing technology in China. The company has rolled out a BizSpark program in the world's biggest Internet market in an effort to provide opportunities for start-ups and talents with a high potential.

The US software heavyweight has offered USD 50 million worth of software and development tools to China since 2008, paving the way for a total of 625 start-ups to expand their business.
